On “Valenkind” Day this Friday, Feb. 13, you’ll have a special opportunity to recognize the kindness shown daily to patients and coworkers. Take a moment to thank someone who’s made a difference for you by downloading a Valenkind card for them or sharing your message of appreciation on Applause.

Peer nominations are now open for the Patient Experience Hero Award, which recognizes clinical and non-clinical employees who go above and beyond to support patients, their families, and coworkers. Submit a colleague’s name and a brief example of their impact by March 20 to help celebrate Patient Experience Week.

Employees across UAB Medicine wore red and gathered for photos in support of heart health during Wear Red Day 2026. The annual event raises awareness about cardiovascular disease — the leading cause of death among women — and reinforces the importance of prevention and early detection.

Cooper Green Mercy Health Services recently marked its first full year in a new, purpose-built facility designed to better serve patients and care teams. The modern space supports expanded outpatient services, improved efficiency, and a more welcoming environment for Jefferson County residents, regardless of their ability to pay. Since opening its new home, Cooper Green has added specialties, increased appointment capacity, and welcomed thousands of new patients.
