Teletrauma pilot program at UAB St. Vincent’s and Russell Medical EDs
UAB eMedicine has launched a pilot teletrauma program at the emergency departments at Russell Medical and six UAB St. Vincent’s locations. It connects local emergency physicians with UAB trauma surgeons in real time, improving patient stabilization, reducing unnecessary transfers, and expanding timely access to lifesaving care in rural communities.
Open enrollment begins Friday
Open enrollment for 2026 benefits begins Oct. 17 and runs through Nov. 3. This is your opportunity to review your current elections and make changes to health, dental, vision, and other benefits for the upcoming year. Enrollment information will be shared via email and on ADP Workforce Now.

Nation named interim chief nursing officer at Birmingham
Longtime UAB Medicine nursing leader Christy Nation, MSHA, BSN, RN, has been named interim chief nursing officer for UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham effective Oct. 15. She replaces Penny Aldridge, who is no longer with the organization.
