UAB Health System has acquired Southview Medical Group, a longstanding, multi-specialty physician practice serving patients in the Birmingham area. Southview will continue operating as patients know it today, with the same physicians and staff, clinic locations, and approach to care. The acquisition will provide long-term stability and additional resources while preserving Southview’s identity and commitment to high-quality, community-based care.

After a formal recruitment process, Christy Nation, DNP, MSHA, RN, has been named chief nursing officer for UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham, effective Jan. 12. She has served as interim chief nursing officer since Oct. 15, 2025. With 28 years of nursing experience and a strong commitment to supporting frontline teams, Nation will continue to strengthen nursing practice and patient care at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham.
